With the end of 2019 rapidly approaching, it’s time to show my 2020 Planner Lineup. And I’ve got six different planners to tell you about!
I’m so excited that my planners for 2020 will not be much of a change from what I’m already doing. In past years, I’ve spent so much time planning out which planners to use and for what purpose. Then the system falls apart early in January and I end up starting over.
I’m so glad that I found a main planner that works so well for my life. Because, yes, I have 6 different planners as part of my 2020 planner lineup. But the foundation of my whole planning system is my Erin Condren LifePlanner. Without a good main planner, the rest of it doesn’t mean much.
There are a few other planners that I’m also already using and will just be transitioning over for 2020. My Finance and Budgeting Planner is an Erin Condren Deluxe Monthly Planner. And I’m also already using the inkWELL Press Daily Planner Inserts for days when I have more to keep track of than will fit in my weekly view.
The new planners I’m changing or adding in this year are the Purple Trail Content Planner for my blog and business, and two goal planners: Powersheets and inkWELL Press Goal Inserts.
I love sharing my planner setup with you because seeing other people’s systems are how I’ve found the planners that work for me. I hope this will help give you ideas too.
Weekly Planner – Erin Condren LifePlanner
Kicking off my 2020 planner lineup is my Erin Condren LifePlanner as my main planner.
This is kind of amazing for me. Not only I have stayed in the same brand and layout of planner since April, but I’m also still love it enough that I want to use it again for 2020.
I don’t think that has ever happened before.
But I’m so excited to be transitioning from my 2019 LifePlanner into my new 2020 LifePlanner. The only thing that changed was switching from a colorful to neutral version. I will probably still use it the same way I already am.
I’m still using the vertical layout. It has been working really well for me this year. And I’ve really got into a groove of how I set up and use the boxes. The top box is my to do list. I use the middle box for events, appointments, and reminders. And the bottom is just for anything else that I want to record (or for decorating).
At one point, I was using the bottom lines for meal planning. And I might go back to that. But I’ve also been toying around with some other possibilities too.
Even though I’m also using a daily planner (as you will see next), I have found that I really love, and need, a weekly view. This may seem like a bit much, but it has really been working for me for the past few months.
Daily Planner – inkWELL Press Daily and Monthly Inserts
The inkWELL Press Planner is another one I’ve been using for a little while already (not as long as the LifePlanner though). Around August I added the inkWELL Press Daily and Monthly inserts.
When I originally set up this up, I also purchased a cover from the inkWELL Press website (the one I have has been discontinued, but this one is similar). And since I have tons of Happy Planner discs, I found these lavender discs in my collection and I still absolutely love how they look with the gray cover.
I added the monthly inserts for the monthly calendar and also because it came with notes pages.
The daily pages are fantastic for the days when I really just need to get a grip on what needs to be done. But since they are undated, I don’t feel like slower days are wasted because I don’t use them.
In the back, I also added in some extra notes pages using Happy Planner paper. I found some with muted, simple designs that matches well with the colors of the inkWELL Press planner.
I use this planner not just to keep track of busy days, but also for keeping track of things for my job. The daily became a necessity when I took on more responsibilities at work. I needed to make sure everything was getting done. So while I include personal things in this planner too, the main purpose was for my work tasks.
Blog & Business Planner – Purple Trails Content Planner
I received this planner from Purple Trail at no cost in exchange for a review. You can read that full review here. I really love this planner; it wouldn’t be a part of my 2020 planner lineup if I didn’t believe it would work for me.
A new planner in my 2020 planner lineup will be the Purple Trail Content Planner. I did a full review of that planner (with tons of pictures), and now I have it set up and ready to go (mostly) for 2020.
The Purple Trail Content Planner is perfect for keeping track of all things for my blog, my Etsy shop (Hello Planners), and social media.
I love that it has a lined vertical layout. That is my favorite weekly layout ever! And the bottom section has space to write what I need to post each day for my blog, YouTube, and social media. I am going to use this section to plan ahead for anything that will need to be posted on a certain day.
Budget & Finance Planner – Erin Condren Deluxe Monthly Planner
I’ve been using an Erin Condren Deluxe Monthly Planner for most of 2018. It works really well for me to have a monthly calendar and then blank note pages where I can track my bills, spending, account balances, and savings.
The flexibility of this planner is what sets it apart. Because of the lined pages in the months, you can make sections and trackers for anything that YOU need to track. It is the perfect planner for making a custom budget and finance planner.
One of the best features of this planner is the extra notes pages at the back. Each planner can have up to 120 notes pages (it comes with 40 standard) so you’ll have plenty of room to keep track of anything. And those pages are in addition to the the note pages between the months.
Goal Planner(s) – inkWELL Press Goal Inserts & Powersheets Goal Planner
A new addition to my 2020 planner line up is a goal planner. Well, two actually (I might have a 3rd to review for you, but we’ll talk about that later… 😉 ). I purchased both the Powersheets Goal Planner and the inkWELL Press Goal Inserts.
My plan is to work through both of them at the beginning of the year, and see which style works best for me. I doubt I’ll use both for the entire year. But both planners were intriguing to me, and I plan to make working on my goals an important part of my year so I knew I would need a dedicated planner for it. Although I also plan to incorporate my goals into my LifePlanner too.
Powersheets by Cultivate What Matters
I’m really excited to work on my goals with the Powersheets Goal Planner by Cultivate What Matters. I’ve already started filling it out and I can’t wait to see how it all evolves into a plan for 2020.
I have a full review of Powersheets that you can go to for more information about the planner. But what I love about it most are the prep work pages in the beginning of the planner. They are designed to help you decided exactly what goals YOU should be working on next year. The things that really matter to you, and not anyone else.
inkWELL Press Goal Planning Inserts
The inkWELL Press Goal Inserts are a little different from Powersheets. They also have a type of prep work at the beginning. But the monthly goal worksheets are more structured and guided. While the Powersheets are more open.
The thing I love about the inkWELL Press goal pages is that because they are discbound, I can add the current month or goal into my daily planner. That way I can have it nearby when I want to see it, but I don’t need to have the separate planner on my desk too.
Tonya Dalton, the creator of inkWELL Press, is also hosting a Facebook group and email series for all those who purchase the IWP Goal Inserts. If you are someone who needs accountability and likes to work with and share with groups, this might be something perfect for you.
I don’t know which one I’ll end up using long term. It might even be both if they both have parts that work for me. But I love both products and wanted to give them a try in 2020.
What’s in your 2020 planner lineup?
No planner system is guaranteed to work all year. I would really encourage you to keep tweaking your planner system until you find what works for you.
Start simple. And add on as needed. I started with the LifePlanner earlier this year. From there I added my budget and business planners. Those three have been working beautifully for me all year. I added in the daily again when things started getting a little crazy. But on days I don’t need it, I don’t stress about it and I leave it alone. It’s there when I need it but there’s no guilt for not using it.
Now I’m going to add in a goal planner (or two). I want to make more progress in the next year that I have been with just a planner and some sporadic goals. I want to be more intentional with what I am trying to accomplish and I think that having a goal planner will help give me the direction I need.
